Nursing grad commits suicide after failing board exam

MANILA, Philippines - A nursing graduate who failed the 2010 board examination committed suicide inside their home in Leon town, Iloilo province, Sunday morning.
Riza Joy Callada's parents told police they found the 21-year-old nursing graduate hanging in her room with a blanket wrapped around her neck.
Police said Riza Joy's father, Nicolas, revealed that their daughter asked them repeatedly what they would feel if she failed the 2010 nursing board examination.
The nursing graduate's father said he and Riza Joy's mom would always reassure their daughter that if she fails, she could just simply take the board examination again until she passes.
Police believe Riza Joy committed suicide after failing the licensure exam.
Riza Joy's family has asked the police to conduct autopsy on her body.
The licensure examinations' results were released last Friday (August 28).
The Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) said more than 90,000 nursing graduates took the licensure examination, but only 37,679 passed.
